Judge Patrick G. King
Judge Patrick G. King is a resident of Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois. Born and raised here, Patrick'sfather was a high school teacher, guidance counselor, and varsity coach; his mother was a registered nurse at local hospitals. Madison County isn't just where he works — it's where he's from.
After graduating from Marquette Catholic High School and earning a B.A. in Political Science and History from the University of Missouri, Patrick pursued his law degree at Thomas M. Cooley Law School — where he graduated cum laude, alongside his wife Stephanie, a fellow Cooley graduate.
In February 2025, the Illinois Supreme Court unanimously appointed Patrick as a Circuit Judge for the Third Judicial Circuit — with Justice David Overstreet administering the oath at the Madison County Courthouse to a packed room of family, friends, courthouse staff, attorneys, and fellow judges.

Patrick and his wife Stephanie — also an attorney and fellow Cooley Law graduate — share a home in Edwardsville with their seven children and Lucky, the family dog. Their partnership in law and life reflects a shared commitment to service.
The King family are members of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Edwardsville and are involved with St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois.
Patrick has served on the Catholic Children's Home Advisory Board in Alton, and remains active in parish, diocesan, and community organizations across the county.
